Pins and Needles: Tingling and Numbness

Chiropractors are often referred to as bone doctors, however they are more specifically examining the nervous system. The nervous system is the master controller of the body connecting your brain to every cell in your body. In the nervous system there are 31 spinal nerves branching off the spinal cord and passing between each vertebrae.

The Chiropractor assesses the spine to find any vertebrae that are not functioning optimally. It is these affected vertebrae that cause pressure on the spinal nerves (think of a kink in a garden hose) which interrupts the nerve impulses (messages from the brain). This interruption to the circuit is called a subluxation.

When you experience Pins and needles, Tingling or Numbness in your body, there has usually been sustained pressure on one of these spinal nerves for a long time.

Early treatment of these subluxations by an experienced Chiropractor is the most effective way to reduce the nerve symptoms you are experiencing. Once the subluxation is corrected normal nerve supply can return.

Chiropractors are healthcare professionals with a minimum of 5 years university training who specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular problems. By restoring the function to the specific vertebrae affecting the damaged nerves, Chiropractors are able to help the body get back to normal.

Early effective treatment will help get the best resolution to your problem.
